David Watkins MBE, a revered figure in Welsh rugby, was a dual-code rugby international, distinguishing himself in both rugby union and rugby league. His career, spanning from 1963 to 1974, saw him represent the national teams for both codes, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication.

Born on March 5, 1942, in Blaina, Monmouthshire, Wales, Watkins began his rugby journey playing for Cwmcelyn Youth. He later expanded his presence, contributing to esteemed teams such as Abertillery RFC, Ebbw Vale RFC, and Pontypool RFC. His exceptional skills on the field earned him a spot in the Wales Youth International team, a testament to his promising talent from an early age.

In the world of rugby union, Watkins left an indelible mark.
